Although Deca is not the optimal steroid for competition preparation, many athletes will achieve good results during this phase. Since Deca-Durabolin is an anabolic agent with a long-term effect, there is a risk that the competition will keep too much water. A conversion into estrogen, i.e. an aromatization process, is possible with Deca-Durabolin but often occurs only at a dose starting from 400 mg.
Deca’s great popularity can be attributed to its wide range of applications and the associated, mostly positive, results. At the same time, most athletes notice a considerable water retention which is not as pronounced as in injectable testosterones but leads to a soft and swollen appearance at high doses. Since Deca-Durabolin also stores more water in the connective tissues, it can temporarily improve or even completely cure existing joint pain. This is especially beneficial to those athletes who complain of pain in shoulders, elbows, and knees; during treatment with Deca-Durabolin, they can often look forward to pain-free traction units. Another reason for this is that the cortisone receptors are blocked, and thus less cortisone reaches the muscle and connective tissue cells. Deca-Durabolin is above average well suited for the development and appetite stimulation of muscle mass, as it promotes protein synthesis with, at the same time, lower water retention. For this purpose, the optimal dose is between 200 and 600 mg per week. Scientific studies have shown that the best results are obtained by taking 2 mg per pound of body weight. Those who take less than 200 mg a week will only experience a slight anabolic effect, but this increases as the dosage increases. The anabolic and therefore enhancing the effect of Deca-Durabolin, therefore, depends to a certain extent on the dosage. In a range of approximately 200 to 600 mg per week, the anabolic effect increases almost proportionally to the dosage. If more than 600 mg per week are taken, the ratio of the positive to the negative effects changes in favor of the latter.
